Lead
Lead has a bluish-white appearance with a brighter luster. It has an atomic number of 82, atomic weight of 207.2, melting point of 327.46℃ and boiling point of 1740℃. It is insoluble in water, and it is malleable and ductile, and a poor conductor of electricity. It is considered the heaviest, non-radioactive element with face centered cubic crystal structure.
Lead is highly resistant to corrosion. It has the advantages of low melting point and excellent ductility and could be fabricated into plates, tubes, and could be used in a number of applications and industries, like chemical engineering, electric cables, storage battery and radiological protection. Lead could be the raw material for ammunition, power lines, radiation shielding, or as an alloying element to enhance certain mechanical properties like elongation, hardness, and tensile strength.
Lead is regarded as one of the most stable metals, it does not dissolve in hydrochloric or sulfuric acid, it could be the suitable material for bearing metal and solders. Besides, Lead could be the stabilizer of asphalt paving used in road construction.
